Together, members of The American Legion, The American Legion Auxiliary, the Sons of The American Legion and the The American Legion Riders make up what is known as The Legion Family. All these organizations place high importance on caring for veterans and their families.
The American Legion is a place where we know the struggles that service members and their families face. We have programs and people who connect and provide assistance.
Being very close with Lovell hospital, our post is able to directly help veterans with activities and events that helps injured veterans endure the wide range of pains and struggles they have to overcome. We provide fishing opportunities at our post and our favorite Burgers and Bikes cookout at the hospital hosted by the American Legion Riders.
Post 703 has two Memorial Day events. We have the main event at the memorial site in downtown Fox Lake at the corner of Grand and Nippersink, and following that, we have another ceremony at our post.
Veterans Day celebrations are held at local schools, retirement communities, Fox Lake Lakefront Park, and at our post. Our own Color Guard from post 703 officiating.
Post 703 actively works with the local cub scout packs and donates to help our youth learn the great values of being a proud American with the Can Do spirit.
The American Legion baseball league is a summertime tradition where high school aged baseball players meet on the diamond.
Players for Post 703 regularly help out with the fishing events for the vets hospitals.
Post 703 sponsors multiple boys from the local community to attend the Boys State convention in Springfield IL where they learn how the American Government system works.
