COMMANDERS CORNER
|
I would like to take a moment to extend a thank you to all the individuals who came to our annual Memorial Day service at both the train station and Post. I also want to thank the Legion members and their families for participating as well as the Post 703 ladies Auxiliary, SAL, and Legion Riders. Special thanks and admiration go out to the bugler from the VFW Post 9566, Jim Reynolds, who always plays the high notes and is very moving to hear. If you weren’t there you missed the echoing buglers! Chaplain Bob Peczkowski and his kitchen staff, Marge, Kirk and Becky did an excellent job with the spaghetti lunch and Vickie Drews made her delicious garlic bread. It was enjoyed by all.
On June 7th at 10:00 a.m. we will have one of our two scheduled fishing trips sponsored by our Post for the Veterans from the VA hospital. This is always a fun time for the Veterans and for the members that come out. If you would like to volunteer your time and help with fishing or cooking, contact Tom Ackman at the post. No help is ever refused and the reward is always heartfelt by all who attend.
The annual Legion Picnic will be held on AUGUST 17th, so mark your calendar and join us for this fun event! You must be a paid up member to join the fun. We will have an area set up on the picnic grounds where your dues can be paid. If you haven’t paid your dues and would like to speak with someone for assistance contact Sr. Vice Commander Jose Beccera.
Everyone have a safe and happy summer!
Noel Working
