Well our annual picnic was once again a huge success. Many thanks to Jr. Vice Jose Becerra and his family for the wonderful job he did putting everything together. Also thanks to all the many people that helped out. Job well done everyone.
We lost a very dear member and friend in August, Fire Chief Stuart Hoehne. Stu was a Legion Member of post 703 for 58 years. I want to thank all of the Legion Members that turned out for the Blue Hat ceremony. You all showed that the Legion is a professional and compassionate organization and that we take care of our own. Thanks again!
September is a special month for important dates! September 2, 1945 was the signing of the formal surrender of Japan. In September 17, 1787 the US Constitution was approved. Happy Birthday to the US Air Force on September 18 (1947) and the VFW on September 29 (1899).
September 18 is the American Legion, Ladies Auxiliary and the Sons of the American Legion. Please join us and welcome the new officers of these fine organizations.
Remember that Bingo is held every Thursday and Sunday at the Post. Thursdays start at noon, and Sundays start at 12:00 p.m. Come and play, you just may be a winner! The Legion game on Sunday is over $5000.00. What a great summer bonus or an early start for your Christmas shopping. Members WE NEED HELP with the Sunday Bingo! It seems that the same people show up every week and they are getting tired. If you can spare an hour on a Sunday to help your Post, please see Chuck as he has a sign up sheet. This is one of our major sources of income for the Post and if this goes away, then so does the Post and none of us want to see that.
